Slough
Press has been publishing fiction, poetry, and essays for thirty years.
The focus of the press is on contemporary literary authors who
experiment with form, communication to a wide audience, and hope to
influence the culture positively. A number of authors, such as Pat Littledog, Marion Winik, and Ricardo Sanchez, have published with New
York commercial publishers and achieved greater distribution and wider
frame, but Slough Press must continue its work because large commercial
publishers are interested primarily in profits, not quality writing.
The Press has received grants from the Texas Arts Commission and has won
numerous awards.
